fairy tail fanfic part 4

Lucy sighed. She knew herself that she was at her limit. She was barely able to stand, she hadn't eaten regularly for weeks, not to mention the loss of sleep. But she needed to do this, no matter how hard it was. She was nearly done, the only thing left to buy was the ring. If she did that last job, the money would just be enough for that.
While lost in thoughts, Lucy didn't notice the noises next to her. Too late, she realized that the animal had not been dead, it had just been knocked out by Taurus. Before she could do anything a sharp pain raised through her arm where the monster had bitten her. She cried in pain and tried to get a hold of her keys, but they had fallen into the mud and with the monster right next to her, she couldn't search for them. She reached out for her whip and just blindly hit in the direction of the attacker. Several times she felt pain raising through her body and her leg began to get numb. Finally, by chance, the whip tored itself around the animal's throat and Lucy started pulling with all her strength. The animal cried out and tried to free itself but it was already weak. After some seconds, it fell to the ground and didn't move anymore.
Lucy stood there for a second, not being sure if it was dead or not and then just collapsed to the ground. All the strength had gone out of her body, she couldn't move one finger. Blood flew out of the wounds in her body, turning the ground red.
When Lucy was about to loose her mind, she remembered why she was doing all this. Somehow she managed to get on her knees, pressing her hand on the wound in the arm, trying to stop the bleeding. She needed to get out of here, back into town. The people would help her fix her wounds and give her the reward. Then she would go back to Magnolia to tell the man at the jewelry store to have the ring ready by Friday evening and stop by at Fairy Tail to pick up the last job request. She should still be able to do the job, her wounds weren't that bad. And when she made it in time she would… but one after the other! Now she had to go back to the village. And the keys! Where were her keys? Lucy started searching for her gate keys in the muddy, bloody earth. When she finally found them, she took them and her whip in one hand, pressed the other one harder against her arm and somehow managed to stand up.Her leg buckled, but she somehow started to walk, slowly approaching the end of the forest. By the time she was out of the woods, she could barely think anymore.
She just went on, falling to the ground every three steps, trying to get up again. When she couldn't stand anymore, she kept on crawling. She barely saw anything, she just kept on going on until she saw the lights of houses in front of her. Unable to shout she tried to reach out her hand to the lights as her mind slowly faded away. Her last thought was "No, I cannot die here…I need to give everyone what they deserve…" Then everything fell into darkness…
